Those of us who have walked through the first two days of holy week (Sunday's triumphal entry and Monday's rumble in the temple) in our regular Sunday morning services, know most of the details of these first two days. Jesus knew the time was right for God's ultimate plan of redemption.

If you missed any of those messages, you can access them here, here, here, and here.

Andreas Köstenberger sees that first day (Palm Sunday) as a claim to kingship that flew in the eye of the Roman authorities. John gives us a glimpse into this, as Jesus is brought before Pilate:

John 19:15-16a They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.

So, having incited both the religious and secular authorities during Passover week, Jesus returned on Tuesday, right into the teeth of a trap. He did so knowingly, because he had designed it that way.

He did so out of love for you.
