Numbers 23:19
God is not man, that he should lie,
or a son of man, that he should change his mind.
Has he said, and will he not do it?
Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
When we are drowning, we need a rock to cling to. When we are tossed by the wind, our soul needs an anchor. Imagine a world where the rock and the anchor were as liable to drowning, shifting, and being blown as we are! If that were so, then the rock would cease to be a rock and the anchor cease anchoring. They would, in a sense, be worthless.
God is not so because of the very fact that he does not change! We can fully rely on him for all matters of life and godliness.
We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into nthe inner place behind the curtain - Heb 6:19
However, modern man wants God to "change with the times!" If this were so, then God would cease to be God. He could offer us no sanctuary or salvation. We can rejoice that we serve a God who means what he says, is consistent in what he says, and is unchangeable in who he is thorughout all generations!
