C.S. Lewis wrote a brilliant (and in some places, hard to understand) piece called Men Without Chests. In it, he exposed the slippery harms of subjectivism (the belief that there is no objective truth).

Some of the articles posted by Mike Woodruff this Friday, point to this problem but in a modern context.

First, is a March 2025 study that shows the incredible benefits that kids enjoy when they have engaged fathers. Not rich dads, not perfect dads, just dads that are engaged in their child's lives. You can access that study by clicking --> here <--

Next, in this piece from the Guardian. There is a growing society of men: Dull Men. Yep, men who exhult in their abysmal dullness, but in a self-authenticating, self-replicating, and self-sustaining way. Just goes to show that life without Christ, and without the purpose of the cross is ... dull. You can access that piece by clicking --> here <--

Finally, a Cambridge study shows a significant corollary between unemployment and suicide in men. This one requires money to access the study --> here <--

There is hope for men. There is courage for men. There is promise for men. Hopelessness, dullness, anxiety, and depression wrought from failure can all be given to God. Dig into his Word, find a companion that sticks closer than a brother - one who will never leave nor forsake. God is a friend to the friendless, the purpose to the purposeless, and joy in the morning. He is the 4th man in the fire. King Jesus can be your friend, if you just seek him, repent, believe, and follow.

Men, don't lose heart!
