As someone who formerly lived in Afghanistan (short term), this question has always been on my heart. What has happened to the church - faithful Afghan followers of Jesus - after the US pulled out of Afghanistan in 2021?

This production by Radical helps us to piece together the picture of one family that survived the Taliban takeover, and gives an educated guess at how the church is faring in a country where straying from Islam is punishable by death.

The 16 minute video is found below. Join me in praying for the persecuted believers in Afghanistan:

Lord, the earth is yours, and the fullness thereof. Your Word says so. I pray for the hills, valleys, and mountains of Afghanistan - may those landscapes echo your voice - even to those unwilling to hear it. Your beautiful voice cannot be silenced because you are the creator of all that is! Father, we pray for the lives of those who are hunting and harming the believers and followers of your dear Son. We pray for their lives, we forgive their blindness, and we beg of your sweet Holy Spirit to open their eyes to the lovingkindness of God, who came to us as a baby, and willingly sacrificed himself as payment for our rebellion and for the sins of those who respond in humble repentence and belief. I pray for the safety and protection of your followers in that beautiful country - calm their fears and provide for them the means of surviving, thriving, and spreading the life-giving gospel of God. I look forward to the day when I will meet, with joy, those martyred in the land that I have trod on this side of eternity. I join with fellow believers across this globe in saying: I love you Lord.

In Jesus' almighty name I pray - let it be so.
