Ephesians 2:19 So then you are no longer dstrangers and aliens, but you are efellow citizens with the saints and fmembers of the household of God,
I recall my mom coming to my bedside when I was in high school. She was a single mom in a small town where there were not many like her. She said something to me about being alone.
Alone.
The word shocked me! I looked at her and said that if we have Jesus, we are never alone. God is always with us!
I have heard her recall that story a time or two. Nonetheless, I stand amended. If we have Jesus, we are never alone, not only because God is our constant companion, but because he has given us each other. And just like families are not all made the same, and the individual components of families can differ from time to time (cue the Thanksgiving table discussions ...), we in the family of God belong to each other - warts, differences, and all!
We should never be alone. God has made us communal beings and he has made us to live out our faith in community. Some times it can be rough, but, "family is family!" At the end of the day, we love each other, worship the one true God, and work on mission - shoulder to shoulder!
