The report ranks the top givers in this order:
Baby Boomers (born 1946-64) giving avg. $3,256/yr
Millenials (born 1981-96) giving avg. $1,616/yr
Gen X (born 1965-80) giving avg. $1,371/yr
Gen Z (born 1997-2012) giving avg. $867/yr
With some very imprecise math, I tried to come to a better conclusion by figuring out the average giving as a percentage of average income/generation. In other words, what percentage of their income does each generation give. Here is where Boomers stood out:
Boomers give 5+% of their income
Gen Z (the youngest) give 3+% of their income
Millenials give 2+% of their income, and
Gen X gives 1+% of their income.
Pretty embarrased to be in Gen X, right now. Yikes. On the flip side, Gen X volunteers the most hours. However, we are the least likely to attend church on a weekly(ish) basis. Double yikes!
